September 12, 2022

Kaafra for not emailing last week. We had a busy pday. Last Monday was my birthday so we stayed the night with the Mpreaso elders and went to rock city the next day to grab some pizza. It wasn't the same as any pizza at home but it was way good. In Ghana they soak you I water on your birthday too, and that night Elder Gilbert, and the two other elders in our apartment got me good haha.

Anyways Elder Gilbert actually got sent to transfers on Wednesday and I got assigned to a new trainer. Elder Gilbert got sent to Tamale. I will definitely miss him. My new companions name is Elder Bai and he is from Liberia. He is a great man and loves the work. Both of his parents have died while he has been on mission and he didn't go home. He is also a convert to the church as well. He was baptized 4 years ago, and what's crazy is that he used to be a Muslim. I've already learned a lot from him and I still have more to learn.

I've been showing Elder Bai the area, and at first it was a little rough getting to know him. When we taught lessons this last week it was a little weird because we have different ways to teach, and different styles. Yesterday we talked about the way we teach, and discussed how we can teach effectively as a companionship.

Elder Bai also knows plenty about the gospel, and all the scriptures. He will quote scriptures I've never even heard of haha.

Eder Bai also knows how to make bead ties, and he is teaching me how to make them which is way cool. He is in the process of making me a BYU tie which is dope!! Go Cougs!! How about that win vs Baylor?! (Utah Utes are over-ranked by the way and shouldn't be in the top 25 lol). We've started to get comfortable with each other and have conversations, but when he first got here it was rough. I'm glad we are both getting to know each other better.

We have 4 Investigators that we are hoping to get baptized on the 25th. Mavis and Nelson are both on date for the 25th and are preparing for that. Next time we teach Nicholas and Bismark we are going to extend baptismal invitations to them for that day. We have plenty of people to see and teach so that makes it easy to plan.

I'm grateful to serve in a place where we hardly ever don't have anyone to see or anything to do. There are always ways to serve even if no one can meet.

Also I haven't gotten any pictures with Elder Bai yet so those will come next week.

In the pictures I put a lot of the food we've tried in the past few weeks too so enjoy. We ate with the family of an investigator twice in the last 2 weeks and the have the funniest little 4 year old boy that loves to dance haha. We ended up buying chicken and rice for the family and took it to their place, and they used it to make us ground nut soup and rice ball which is one of my favorite foods here so far besides the Gah Beans in one of the videos.

Also the one pic of us white Elders is with communion wine and it is non-alcoholic so don't freak out hahah
